Many people conflate user experience with user interface - but while the two are similar, they are distinctly different disciplines. Constructing user experiences is a wholistic task; there are many aspects of the user's experience that extend above and beyond the visual interface. This includes when and where tasks are encountered, the task frequency, and whether the overall speed and ease of use can be improved by adding, removing, or reorganizing workflows.
Tools I use to craft stellar user experiences:
LucidChart
Omnigraffle
SKETCH
InVision
Visio
UI Design
High & low fidelity Mockups
Live prototypes
If UX is wholistic and encompassing, UI design is directed and specific. It's the paint on a functional piece of furniture, the polish on the process. UI focuses on creating visually stunning and easy to use interfaces. Good UI is invisible; it's goal is perfectly translate complex data into easily scannable, effective visual designs.
I utilize the following tools to craft mockups and prototypes:
Sketch
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
InVision
Technical and Copywriting
UX and UI design rely on procedural and visual communication, respectively. However, no interface would be complete without copy. An image may be worth a thousand words but language is important for direction and clarity. Additionally, well-written copy allows the application to express personality, additionally enhancing user engagement.
Writing categories in which I excel:
Website copy
Pitches / proposals
Technical manuals / User guides
Internal Documentation
